Astros sign-second round pick Houser

The Astros have signed right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser, their second-round pick from Locust Grove High School in Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander ranked 135th as a pitcher by Baseball America. The 18-year-old senior recorded 125 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched and helped Locust Grove HS to the 2011 Class 4A State Championship in Oklahoma.

Earlier Friday, the Astros signed the following Draft picks: RHP Brandon Culbreth (8th round pick), LHP Kyle Hallock (10th), CF Justin Gominsky (11th), C Miles Hamblin (12th), 3B Matthew Duffy (20th), SS Alexander Todd (27th), RF Jarrod McKinney (31st), RHP Zachary Dando (32nd), OF Chris Epps (45th), 1B Justin Shults (46th).

Also, the Astros announced that the club has agreed to terms with C Joseph Witkowski (St. John’s Univ.) and RHP Justin Gill (Kent St.) as non-drafted free agents.
